General Info

Kreso's Restaurant sits quietly at 218 N 3rd St, Bardstown, KY 40004, United States, yet it delivers a dining experience that feels both personal and deeply rooted in European tradition. This European restaurant blends comfort, heritage, and bold flavors in a way that feels effortless. From the moment you step inside, the space gives off a relaxed, casual vibe that invites you to slow down and actually enjoy the meal in front of you.

The menu reflects a thoughtful balance between familiar comfort food and distinctive European-inspired dishes. One of the highlights that regulars often talk about in reviews is the Wiener Schnitzel, cooked until golden and crisp while staying tender inside. It’s hearty without being heavy, making it a go-to choice for first-time visitors. Another standout is Chicken Kreso, a dish that feels home-style yet refined, offering layers of flavor that keep you engaged from the first bite to the last.

Drinks are clearly taken seriously here as well. The restaurant’s connection to bourbon culture feels natural in Bardstown, and pairing a meal with a classic Old Fashioned just makes sense. It complements the food rather than overpowering it, adding to the overall experience without stealing the spotlight. For something lighter and refreshing, the Bosnian Salad brings balance to the menu with fresh ingredients and clean flavors that cut through richer dishes.

Kreso’s Restaurant also caters well to families and groups. High chairs and a thoughtfully prepared kids’ menu make it comfortable for diners of all ages. Parking is convenient, which removes the usual stress before even sitting down. For those days when dining out isn’t an option, delivery service helps bring the same quality straight to your door without losing that made-with-care feel.

What truly stands out is how genuine the entire experience feels. The atmosphere, the menu, and the service all work together seamlessly. This isn’t a place trying to follow trends-it’s a restaurant focused on consistency and comfort. Whether you’re exploring local locations in Bardstown or relying on trusted reviews to guide your choice, Kreso’s Restaurant feels like a spot you’ll want to return to, not just remember.

What customers say?

“ This is a lovely restaurant in Bardstown. My sister, her husband, and I ate dinner there Tuesday. It was almost empty because of the snow. Lucky us. The food was very good. My only minor complaint was that the food could have been hotter to suit me. I had the Wiener schnitzel. It was tender and tasty. The noodles with the mushroom sauce were very good. My brother in law had the goulash, and my sister had chicken cordon bleu. Everything was very good. The owner was super nice. She made sure we were happy with our meals. ”

“ Waking by and stopped in for dinner and so glad we did. Food was fantastic and service was very nice. Atmosphere was nice, white table cloths, but not stuffy. Definitely will revisit next time in Bardstown. ”

“ Love this place! Hadn't been since b4 the pandemic. But was so happy to see the same owners and get the exact same delicious meals! The Kreso Pasta is delicious! ”

“ One of my go-to’s when I’m in Bardstown. I’ve been going to this place since it first opened 30 years ago down the street closer to the courthouse. Consistently one of the best plates in town. Tried and true. Perfect for a quiet dinner or a large family dinner. ”

- David Shams -

“ We enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant with their friendly staff. The meals are very tasty. The Gulasch is best of this region. We will be back. ”

- Michaela Howard -

“ This is a decent restaurant in a historic building with character. The service was wonderful and our entrees were good but not memorable in any way. We shared a Caprese salad, which was lacking the basil, so it started with disappointment. I had the Weiner Schnitzel and my wife had Kreso’s chicken. The ambiance in the dining area and bar is wonderful, but the men’s restroom was dark and dingy, and the trash was already overflowing when they had literally just opened for the evening. The staff were great and I really wanted to love this place, but with right at $80 spent with none of the food standing out as terrific, I can’t honestly give it 5 stars. ”

“ Wr enjoyed a wonderful dinner with our friends Saturday night. The owners are wonderful people and so incredibly accommodating. We all had something different and we enjoyed them all. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! ”

“ It was a could Monday and we chose Kreso's for my hubbies birthday. We had a great meal, the Goulash and the Cordon bleu. Both were tasty and enough that we took food home. Take the time to try this place out when I'm Bardstown. ”
